Important Information

Term Deposit Terms & Conditions

The following is a standard website summary and should be read together with the issuer's formal Terms and Conditions, Product Disclosure Statement (where applicable), Target Market Determination and account confirmation. If there is any inconsistency, the formal product documents and applicable law prevail.

1. Eligibility and account opening
  • Applicants must satisfy the issuer's eligibility requirements.
  • Identity, address and other customer information may be verified before an account is opened.
  • Applications may be declined where required by law, risk controls, sanctions requirements, AML/CTF obligations or issuer policy.
  • An account is not established until the issuer accepts the application and confirms the deposit.
2. Minimum deposit, maximum amount and rate tiers
  • The advertised minimum deposit is AUD 25,000.
  • The website calculator allows amounts up to AUD 1,000,000; any operational maximum should be confirmed by the issuer before publication.
  • AUD 25,000 to under AUD 100,000: 0.70% per month.
  • AUD 100,000 to under AUD 500,000: 1.00% per month.
  • AUD 500,000 and above: 1.20% per month.
  • The rate applying to a deposit must be confirmed in writing when the term deposit is established.
  • Rates advertised before account opening may be changed or withdrawn unless the issuer has expressly committed to hold the quoted rate.
3. Available terms and commencement

Available terms: [AVAILABLE TERMS — e.g. 3 months / 6 months / 12 months]. The term begins on the date specified in the account confirmation, generally after accepted cleared funds have been received and all account-opening requirements are complete.

4. Interest calculation and payment
  • Interest is calculated using the method specified in the issuer's formal product terms.
  • The monthly examples shown on this page are simple illustrations based on principal × monthly rate.
  • Whether interest is paid monthly, periodically, at maturity or added to a renewed deposit depends on the actual product option selected.
  • Compounding must not be assumed unless the issuer's product terms expressly provide for interest to be added to the deposit balance.
  • Rounding conventions and day-count methods are determined by the issuer's formal terms.
5. Fixed-rate status and changes to rates

Once a fixed-rate term deposit is established, the confirmed monthly interest rate applies for the agreed deposit term, subject to the account confirmation and formal product terms. Advertised rates can change before establishment. Any rate applicable after maturity or on renewal will be the rate available at that later time unless otherwise confirmed.

6. Early withdrawal
  • Funds are intended to remain deposited until maturity.
  • Early withdrawal may be unavailable, require advance notice or require issuer approval.
  • Where early withdrawal is permitted, interest may be reduced, recalculated or forfeited in accordance with the formal terms.
  • Hardship or exceptional-circumstance provisions, if any, are governed by the issuer's policy and applicable law.
7. Maturity and renewal

Before or at maturity, the account holder may be asked to provide maturity instructions. Available options may include withdrawal, renewal of the principal, or renewal of the principal together with interest. If no valid instruction is received, any default treatment must be the treatment specified in the issuer's formal Terms and Conditions.

8. Fees, taxes and withholding
  • Any fees or charges must be disclosed in the applicable product documents.
  • Interest may be taxable. Tax treatment depends on the account holder's circumstances.
  • Tax file number, withholding tax and non-resident withholding requirements may apply.
  • Clients should obtain independent tax advice where appropriate.
9. Financial Claims Scheme

Only retain this clause if confirmed applicable. Eligible Australian-dollar deposits with an Australian-incorporated, APRA-authorised deposit-taking institution may be protected under the Australian Government Financial Claims Scheme, up to the statutory limit per account holder per ADI. The limit applies to the account holder's combined eligible deposits with that ADI, including deposits under different brands that operate under the same ADI licence.

10. General information and financial advice

Information on this page is general information only and does not take into account your objectives, financial situation or needs. It is not personal financial advice. Before acquiring the product, consider the relevant product documents and whether the product is appropriate for you. Seek independent financial, legal or tax advice where appropriate.

11. Risks and liquidity
  • A term deposit may provide less liquidity than an at-call account because funds are committed for a defined period.
  • Locking in a fixed rate may mean you do not benefit if market rates increase during the term.
  • Inflation may reduce the real purchasing power of principal and interest.
  • Any government protection statement is subject to the actual issuer, account eligibility and statutory limits.
12. Account security and authorised instructions
  • Clients are responsible for protecting account credentials and notifying the provider promptly of suspected unauthorised access.
  • Instructions may be subject to identity verification and fraud-prevention checks.
  • Neither passwords nor one-time security codes should be shared with third parties.
13. AML/CTF, sanctions and source of funds

The issuer and service providers may request information regarding identity, beneficial ownership, source of funds or source of wealth and may delay, reject, freeze or report transactions where required or permitted by applicable law.

14. Complaints and dispute resolution

Complaints should first be made through the issuer's or service provider's internal dispute-resolution process using the contact details in the applicable Financial Services Guide or product documents. Where applicable, unresolved complaints may be referred to the relevant external dispute-resolution scheme identified in those documents.

15. Privacy and electronic communications

Personal information is handled in accordance with the relevant privacy policy and applicable privacy law. By using online services, clients may receive notices, statements and product communications electronically where permitted and agreed.

16. Changes to these terms

The issuer may amend product terms where permitted by law and the formal Terms and Conditions. Material changes will be communicated in the manner required by the applicable product documents and law. Website information may also be updated from time to time.

17. Governing documents and precedence

This webpage is promotional and explanatory material only. The formal Terms and Conditions, Product Disclosure Statement (where applicable), Target Market Determination, Financial Services Guide and account confirmation form the governing product documentation. If this webpage conflicts with a governing document, the governing document prevails to the extent permitted by law.
